control signal in a multivariate process is an appealing subject for many researchers in the last years. In the paper, we designed and implemented a scheme that uses Characteristics Elimination within the MEWMA statistic to overcome this drawback. The methodology is similar to examine the Prediction Sum of Squares (PRESS) residuals in Regression Analysis. From our study, we observed that those reduced MEWMA statistic obtained with the exclusion of the characteristics that is responsible for the out-of-control signal is/are uniformly smaller than the others.
