PARAMETER ESTIMATION AND SCREENING OF MOISTURE SORPTION MODELS
O. M. O. Etebu
The accuracy of sorption models in the prediction of moisture–humidity behaviour of pop-corn at 40 and 50°C has been evaluated and presented in this paper. Five water sorption models namely: Guggenhel-Ander-Boer (GAB), modified Henderson, modified Oswin, modified Halsey, and modified Chung-Pfost were fitted to experimental data that were obtained from literature .Model parameters were estimated by solving a three-dimensional optimization function that minimizes the error between the experimental and predicted values of the decision variables. The models were discriminated on the basis of residual sum of squares and relative mean deviation modulus. It was observed that the modified Chung-Pfost equation was the most satisfactory model for representation of the equilibrium moisture-humidity data over the temperatures that were investigated.
