This paper examines the controlled variation of the r.m.s value of the alternating voltage applied to a load via thyristor - thyristor based power controller scheme. The thyristors are connected jn Inverse Parallel configuration. Analyses of the first fundamental component of the Fourier series of the load current were presented. The normalized value of the load current (ILnorm) at various firing angle () varying from 0 to 180° were obtained and plotted. The thyristor-thyristor pair shows a full control of the applied power to the load, varying from 1.0 to 0.0 per unit. The domestic and industrial application of this scheme will be imperative in increasing production efficiency and control. The analyses will assist industrial engineers in determining the appropriate firing angle of the thyristors, in order to minimize power loss.
