EFFECT OF CHARGE WATER ON BLOCK STONE PRODUCTION
Adebimpe, R. A.

A study has been carried out to determine the effect of charge water on blockstone production from granite deposit. Variable charge water of 100%, 75%, 50%, 25% and 0% were used on shot holes at five different lines of the bench respectively. The result obtained indicates that maximum percentage recovery of blockstone occurs at 75% charge water. As the charge water decreases, the fracture length decreases and also as the charged water decreases, the distance moved by the blockstone decreases. The result shows the importance of charge water in reducing fractures in production of blockstone from the rock massif and the subsequent increase in percentage blockstone recovery.
