A STUDY OF AVERAGE RUN-LENGTH DISTRIBUTION OF AN EXPONENTIALLY WEIGHTED MOVING AVERAGE CONTROL CHART USING DIABETIC DATA FROM OYO STATE OF NIGERIA FROM JANUARY 1974 – FEBRUARY 1986
An alternative method for studying the Average Run-Length (ARL) distribution of the Exponentially Weighted Moving Average (EWMA) is presented using the Fredholm integral equation of second kind. The study was used to design EWMA control chart to detect an increase in the rate of diabetic disease in Ibadan town of Oyo State. The result shows that the efficiency of the procedure is very high and it confirms the quality management philosophy that discourages scraps and reworks
