Sevket A. AKPINAR
Aggregates are often naturally occurring sand and gravel particles that compose the major portion of concrete. In this study, firstly, the definition of aggregate is made and its importance in concrete production has been stressed. Then the functions of the aggregates within concrete blocks have been mentioned, in the experimental study part four diverse aggregate samples that were taken from three different locations of western Turkey have undergone certain tests according to the requirements depicted in standards. The results obtained in these tests nave teen discussed and a comparison has been made in order to determine the best-fitting-kind of aggregate for durable concrete production.
