THE N9 PROBLEM IN DISTRIBUTION RELIABILITY ANALYSIS
Emmanuel. A Ogujor
Paul Otasowie
The number of nine is widely used in distribution reliability metrics to measure the degree of distribution reliability networks without consideration of the positional value of the nines. Thus, the impact of the placed value of the nine on the distribution reliability as it moves away from the left to far right of the radix point is presented. The result shows that beyond the 4th position, the impact of the nine the distribution reliability is almost negligible. Thus, the pitfall of comparison network operators’ distribution reliability without due attention to the placed value of the nines have been highlighted.
